British duo Hintermass serve up their debut album The Apple Tree. It comprises Jon Brooks and Tim Felton; who was formerly of legendary British group Broadcast. The two multi-instrumentalists take us on an exotic and cosmic journey (Ash-ra and Popul Vuh said to have been influences) influenced by traditional and psychedelic folk strains, as well. We particularly enjoyed the hazy and esoteric vibes of “The Rituals Of Reversal”, the retro-pop of “Patterns Somewhere” reminiscent musically of Simon & Garfunkel and featuring Felton’s velvety vocals and of course the bittersweet cosmic trip towards the end “Weicher”. A thoroughly enjoyable album! – Juno
