Georgian producer and DJ BEQA debuts his first ever EP for Mr. Banger – the UK breakbeat patron who provides ample opportunity for cut-up-and-dance artists to strut their stuff. ‘Raw analog flavours’ is the core aesthetic of this release, with tracks like ‘Hold’ deploying a slapdash approach to production, amid a panoply of tongue-in-cheek vocal samples (‘make some noise’, ‘yeah baby!). The fun doesn’t stop there; battle DJ record-sratches rear their head on the hazy, melodic banger ‘Standalone’, while our curiosities and fantasies about age gaps in relationships are somewhat indulged on the minimal tantalizer ‘Toy Boy’.
